Masks of the World, 2015
Children’s mask making activity

Masks of the World, a children’s mask making activity engaged local Lane Cove children in creative cultural interpretation which they explored using a choice of three animal masks selected from various countries from around the world; the Japanese Kistune (fox) mask, Indian Hanuman Monkey mask and a Torres Strait Islander Beizam Shark headdress.
Participants were invited to creatively repurpose craft materials to decorate their masks. Materials included paper, feathers, foam popsicle sticks, cellophane, pipe cleaners, and ribbon which were used to explore a variety of cultural themes relating specifically to their chosen mask.
